We love our land so much and we want to show you all its incredible beauty. With this trip our goal will be to make you live an authentic experience and not just a trip. You will meet the locals people and you will ride away from the traffic, immersed in the green Tuscan hills, taste fresh food accompanied by great Tuscan wines. You will sleep in beautiful hotels in fantastic locations where you will be welcomed as a “caro amico”. You will feel just like home.
We will meet at the Florence airport and then transfer to Lucca and our prestigious 4-star hotel in the historic centre of the old town where you will have the time to settle into your room and relax. After your bike fitting, a look over our maps and a chat about your safety on the road we will head off on our own first tour in the countryside around Lucca. We will begin with a complete tour of the sixteenth century walls of the historic town. It’s about 4.5 km long and will allow you to enjoy the beautiful old town in all its glory.
We will continue along the Serchio River, following the cycle path until we arrive at Torre del Lago and the oasis of Massaciuccoli. Massaciuccoli is a coastal lake and the marsh area around it are part of the Natural Park of Migliarino, San Rossore, Massaciuccoli and the LIPU oasis with its many species of birds. This area is famous for the musician Giacomo Puccini who fell in love at first sight of the lake and of the small village on its banks. We will stop for a light lunch and wine tasting at the farm of our friends, Sardi and Giustiniani.
They have a recognized organic farm where food and wine are produced in full respect for nature.
Afterwards we will return to our hotel to get ready for our welcome dinner in the historic centre of Lucca. Tonight, there will also be the presentation of the staff that will accompany you for the week and an introduction of the trip and the exciting things you will go to discover in the following days.

It will be a nice and fun experience. Today will be a special day "A full Italian immersion day in the noble heart of Lucca". You will pedal in the magnificent Lucchesi hills, crossing vineyards, olive groves and cypress trees in classic Tuscan style. Today you will also discover the famous Via Delle Renaissance Villas. The villas are the historic countryside homes of the Lucchesi merchants, built from the fifteenth to the nineteenth century, thanks to the fruits of their businesses and banking operations in Central Europe. We will also visit Villa Torrigiani and its garden (one of my favourites).
The first mention of the villa dates back to 1593. It was then bought by Nicolao Santini who in the late seventeenth century rebuilt the south facade in the Baroque style, probably attracted by the architecture of Versailles, where he was ambassador to the Republic of Lucca. After our visit of the villa and the gardens, our ride goes directly to Collodi where Fabrizio lives. Everyone in the world know the fable of Pinocchio, well this is his village. Here we'll have lunch.
After lunch we will head back to Lucca giving us a 55km ride with some good gentle climbs. Your afternoon is free for relaxing or shopping along the famous Via Fillungo in the enchanting historical city centre. This evening there will be a guided tour of the birth house and museum of maestro Puccini before dinner.

Today will be the first transfer by bike. We will leave the plains of Lucca, crossing the Val d'Elsa before we arrive up to the typical medieval village of Montaione, a small Tuscan village near Florence. Extremely welcoming, it originates from the first settlements of the Etruscan and Roman age. The village is medieval and extends around the Castle, an ancient fort of 12th Century surrounded by towers, with a central square facing the church of San Regolo and the Palazzo Pretorio. The territory was already frequented in Etruscan and Roman times, as evidenced by archaeological findings.
Montaione is also famous because it is located a few kilometres from the Sacro Monte di San Vivaldo, an exact reproduction on a reduced scale of the Jerusalem of the fifteenth century which is known as "The Jerusalem of Tuscany". You will have the opportunity to visit the town of San Miniato Alto, famous throughout Italy for the truffle festival held every year in November, while our final goal will be the noble Palazzo Mannaioni from the 1600s, now converted into a beautiful hotel in the historic centre of Montaione. Here we will see the Etruscan historical centre, the Roman theatre ruins, medieval buildings such as the cathedral and the Medici Fortress, making this village a real Tuscan jewel.
